O CONFRONTO DAS SUPERPOTÊNCIAS: O TRAJETO DO FRIO – DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS À EURÁSIA

O nosso objetivo ao redigir este artigo foi o de tentar compreender a relação entre os Estados Unidos e a União das Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas, no pós-II Guerra Mundial, até ao culminar do século XX, quando, em 1991, a “Guerra Fria” terminou. Quando, em 1946, Churchill afirmou, em Fulton, que uma «cortina de ferro» dividia a Europa, o processo de sovietização dos países de Leste era já irreversível. Sob a tutela diplomática e militar da URSS, os partidos comunistas ganhavam forças e, progressivamente, tomavam o poder. Um ano passado sobre o Alerta de Churchill, os Estados Unidos assumem, frontalmente, a liderança da oposição dos avanços do socialismo. Nas páginas finais apresentámos uma cronologia com as datas que nos parecem merecedoras de destaque e, também, uma lista de siglas.

THE CONFRONTATION OF SUPERPOWERS: THE PATH OF THE COLD – UNITED STATES TO EURASIA
ABSTRACT: Our goal in writing this article was to try to understand the relationship between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, in the post-World War II until the culmination of the twentieth century when, in 1991, the “Cold War” ended . When, in 1946, Churchill said in Fulton, that an ‘iron curtain’ divided Europe, the process of Sovietization of eastern countries was already irreversible. Under the diplomatic protection of the USSR military and Communist parties gained strength and gradually seized power. A year spent on Alert Churchill, the United States assume, frontally, the leadership of the opposition advances of socialism. In the final pages presented a chronology of dates that seem worthy of emphasis and also a list of abbreviations.
