RAWLS ELIMINA O MÉRITO E LEGITIMA OS FREE-RIDERS?

A obra do filósofo político John Rawls deu origem a uma reflexão inspiradora e inovadora no pensamento de vários problemas da sociedade. Actualizando o método do contrato social, apurado com a sapiência kantiana, o projecto rawlsiano começou, inicialmente, por estipular os grandes princípios que uma sociedade justa deveria adoptar. Começando pela análise da (pré)distribuição da riqueza e oportunidades, a sua obra prima Uma Teoria da Justiça veio a ser aplicada a muitos outros problemas igualmente importantes e relevantes. Neste artigo, procurarei aplicar as conclusões rawlsianas a dois problemas contemporâneas: a meritocracia e a existência dos free-riders.

DOES RAWLS ELIMINATE MERIT AND LEGITIMATE FREE-RIDERS?
ABSTRACT: The political philosopher John Rawls’ work originated an inspiring and innovative reflection on thinking about various problems of society. Updating the social contract method, refined with Kantian sapience, the Rawlsian project initially started by stipulating the great principles a just society should adopt. Beginning with an analysis of (pre)distribution of wealth and opportunities, his master piece “A Theory of Justice” came to be applied to many other equally important and relevant problems. In this article, I will seek to apply Rawlsian conclusions to two contemporary problems: the meritocracy and the existence of free-riders.
